SUMMARY:Corte Madera Marsh Ecological Reserve (CMMERE) Volunteer Work Day
DESCRIPTION:Date: Every second Saturday of the month from 10:00 – 1:00 \nDirections: Take the Redwood Highway Frontage Road north past the World Market Shopping Plaza. Turn right onto Industrial Way and access the site through the gate which is open on work days. Google Map \nPlease fill out the Volunteer Sign Up Form HERE \nIf you are under the age of 18 please fill\, sign\, and bring to the event the Minor Waiver HERE \nJoin Marin Audubon Society Property Coordinators for seasonal tasks to maintain and improve habitat for birds and other wildlife at the Corte Madera Marsh Ecological Reserve. The importance of this 5 acre portion of the marsh stems from its location\, bounded on three sides by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Corte Madera Ecological Reserve. On the south boundary is the Heerdt Marsh\, a tidal marsh that has never been diked\, on the east filled land of the Reserve and on the north the Reserve’s parking lot. CMMERE’s historic tidal marsh is habitat for a large population of the endangered Ridgway’s rails in addition to shorebirds and waterfowl.  \nRain cancels our work days. \nFor questions please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator volunteercoordinator@marinaudubon.or or the Property Coordinator Martha Jarocki at  marthajarocki@gmail.com.

SUMMARY:Rodeo Lagoon - Marin Headlands
DESCRIPTION:Rodeo Lagoon\, Marin Headlands\nWednesday\, October 21\, 2026\n7:30/8:00 AM to 12:00 PM\nBirding with William Legge and David Wiechers \nREGISTER HERE \nRegistration is required for this trip. Registration opens on Sunday\, October 11 at 8 AM\nLimit of 15 participants for this trip. \nJoin William and David for this fourth fall migration field trip at Rodeo Lagoon. This is their long-time “patch\,” which never seems to disappoint birders with daily variations in species and a good chance of an unusual sighting. On this trip\, our group will be targeting Parasitic Jaeger\, migrating shorebirds and scarcer migrant passerines. We will begin the morning with a Sea Watch from Rodeo Beach at 7:30 AM. Those arriving later may join us at 8:00 AM for a circuit of the lagoon. A brief mid-morning ‘coffee-stop’ is planned at Headlands Center for the Arts and it would be appreciated if participants come willing to contribute via the onsite ‘tip-jar’ as a thank you to the Headlands Center for the Arts for accommodating our group. This field trip is less suitable for beginners. \nDIRECTIONS: Head south on Hwy 101 and take the last Sausalito exit just before the Golden Gate Bridge. At the exit stop sign\, turn right and go under the freeway\, then follow the road down to the left. Within 300 feet turn left at the sign to the Marin Headlands (This is the only available left turn before you begin the descent into Sausalito). You should see the tunnel with the five-minute light. Proceed through the tunnel on Bunker Rd to the Rodeo Lagoon Parking Lot at the end. Meet by the footbridge over the channel to the beach or join MAS birders with scopes along the nearby beach area.
