Great Blue Heron

This long-legged bird can be found in wetlands and meadows and wading in both fresh and salt water. This bird eats fish, small crab, shrimp, small reptiles, mice, and occasionally even water birds.

Size: 42 – 52 inches

Nest: Large platform of sticks, usually in tree, sometimes on cliff. Nest in colonies. See them at Audubon Canyon Ranch.

In Marin: year round

Sounds: "graak"
