Osprey

Osprey

Size: 21 – 24½ inches

Commonly seen over large bodies of water, these large hawks with white and dark patches are often mistaken for Bald Eagles by beginning bird watchers. An Osprey eats fish that it catches by diving to the surface of the water. Upon catching a fish it returns to the air, shakes off the water, and flies off making sure the fish's head faces forward.
