Join us on our walk along Deer Island Open Space trails with iNaturalist Ambassador Sarah Reid, who has experience with California Academy of Sciences, Sonoma Land Trust and Regional Parks.  Her goal is to support new and existing users of the iNaturalist platform in learning how to record, identify and explore biodiversity in their local regions.

Alison Pence, Marin Audubon Field Trip Co-Coordinator, will help lead with introductions to eBird and Merlin for new users. The second stop on the trip will be to Simmons Slough, a Marin Audubon Property and site of the new nestbox project.

Directions:
Take 101N, exit at 460A to CA 37 toward Vallejo, continue 2.3 mi. on CA 37E and turn left at the Atherton Ave. exit, continue 1.5 mi. and turn left on Olive Ave, after 0.7 mi turn left on Deer Island Lane for 0.2 miles to the Deer Island Open Space entrance and trailhead. From the north, take Atherton Avenue and turn right on Olive Ave to Deer Island Lane. Parking lot only holds a few cars, more parking on Deer Island Lane. Meet at the trailhead at 8:30 AM.
